Our dear friend and President Mary Colletto passed away on January 4, 2021, after a long valiantly fought battle with cancer. She suffered numerous unrelated setbacks through it all, but always remained truly hopeful of a favorable outcome.
Mary joined the Brushing Violets in early 1995. She was always ready to lend a hand, volunteering for the Sunshine committee in 1996-1997 then joining the Holiday Luncheon Committee also in 1997. Her resume is quite extensive. In 1998 she was elected Secretary and again for the 2005-2006 terms and served as President for the 1999-2000 terms. Mary was elected 1st Vice President in 2008, remaining in this position until 2011, when the position of President became available for 2012. Mary volunteered to take on this responsibility in 2012 and remained as President until her passing.
During all of the time while holding various Officer positions on the Board, Mary also taught, worked on several Community Service Committees, numerous Spring/Summer Luncheon Committees and chaired the Annual Holiday Luncheon for most years beginning in 2004 through 2020. She set a good example for all members and we were blessed to have a woman of her courage and dedication for all these years as an active member of both our chapter and of SDP.
She is deeply missed and will always be in the hearts of her painting friends.
Rest in peace, Mary. You deserve it.
